Originally maintained by a few Stargazers, as the town of
Melbourne spread to engulf the caern, it was arranged for the university to
be built nearby, and to have a cemetery placed on the site, in order to
minimise human interference, and also to ensure that those humans that did
enter the area did so with the properly reflective state of mind. The
closure of the cemetery proved to be a mixed blessing, for while far fewer
people now came in, those that did were generally concerned with either
spraying graffiti and other
vandalism,
getting drunk, fooling around, or any combination of the
three. Rumours caused by the revels held there ensure that all but the
most drunk, foolish or desperate choose somewhere else for their own
revels. As the town spread beyond the caern, new Garou began to arrive,
primarily Bone Gnawers, as well as a few Glass Walkers, leaving the
Stargazers in the minority.
The Sept
The sept can boast a membership of 25 members: 7 Bone Gnawers,
7 Glass Walkers, 3 Stargazers, 2 Children of Gaia, 2 Silverfangs,
and a single Fianna, Shadowlord, Silent Strider, Uktena and Blackfury. In addition to
the running and protection of the caern, the sept
is largely concerned with the university and with the zoological gardens.
In this capacity, the Garou can be found as undergrad and post grad
students, administrative and faculty members, zoo attendants, local
business holders and homeless people. Far more so than at any other caern,
the members of the Sept of Sleeping Lore are integrated with the
surrounding human community, which naturally presents interesting problems
of it's own.
Sept Leader: "Cossack"
Caern Warder: Graeme Cachia

Garou
- Cossack
- Male, Homid, Galliard, Bone Gnawer, Rank 4
- Cossack is a middle-aged bum, known to most humans in the area.
He is dirty and unkempt, with sandy-brown hair, a scruffy beard and watery
grey eyes that hide his keen intelligence. He wears one set of rank and
dirty clothes, topped with an old grey overcoat. He sleeps on the streets
around the bawn.
- Graeme Cachia
- Male, Homid, Philodox, Glass Walker, Rank 3
- Graeme holds a custodial position at the
cemetery. He is a very ordinary looking man (brown hair, brown eyes) in
his mid thirties who favours casual attire, usually jeans, boots and a
shirt. He lives in a
small caretakers residence
inside the cemetery
grounds.
- Emma Teesdale
- Female, Homid, Theurge, Bone Gnawer, Rank 3
- A member of the archaeology department at the University,
Emma is a slim women in her early forties, with prematurely white hair.
Emma dresses casually in jeans and shirts, and is fairly active in various
University political groups. She owns a small house in Carlton.
- Ends-The-Quiet
- Male, Lupus, Theurge, Stargazer, Rank 3
- When not on sept business, Ends-The-Quiet is almost always
to be found in the Penumbra around the caern, where he sleeps and
meditates. A large rusty-coloured wolf with a white vest, Ends-The-Quiet
has little to do with the real world, and even less to do with the
surrounding humanity.
- Nadine Holloway
- Female, Homid, Ahroun, Glass Walker, Rank 3
- Nadine is an
administrator at the zoological gardens. In
her early thirties, she is an attractive and cheerful person; blonde with
blue eyes. Nadine always dresses appropriately to the occasion. She
resides in a house in Brunswick, just north of Brunswick Road.
- Ian Shatter-Glass
- Male, Metis, Galliard, Bone Gnawer, Rank 3
- Ian's deformity is that he cannot transform into homid
or lupus forms. He is restricted to glabro, crinos and hispo forms. As
such he has been quite successful in getting work as a bouncer at various
pubs and night-spots. An enormous grey crinos with green eyes, Ian lives
with Graeme Cachia in the cemetery.
- Chases-The-Car
- Female, Lupus, Ragabash, Bone Gnawer, Rank 3
- An endearing fixture around the colleges, Chases-The-Car
is a very mongrelised lupus who lives on the charity of the students and
sleeps where he can. His ancestry appears to comprise of wolf, German
Shepherd, Blue Heeler and a few others.
- Chris McNeil
- Male, Homid, Theurge, Bone Gnawer, Rank 3
- One of life's apparent drop-outs, Chris is a severely crusty
individual living off the dole in various houses through-out the inner
Melbourne area. With his blonde dread-locks, ripped and stained clothes,
and red Doc Martens, people tend to over-look his intelligence and
self-achieved erudition.
- Kirsty Surfs-The-Train
- Female, Metis, Philodox, Bone Gnawer, Rank 2
- A child of the streets, Kirsty suffers from fits
of madness and hallucinations: her metis deformity. A passionate and
extreme individual, Kirsty adopts the most outlandish styles she can, and
is a current proponent of scarification. Kirsty still lives on the
streets, though she often crashes with pack members.
- Ken Xavier
- Male, Homid, Ahroun, Glass Walker, Rank 2
- An arts student doing his third attempt at first year, Ken is
not stupid (much) but is easily distracted by beer and women. A big
handsome blonde, Ken just has fun and leaves the decisions to others. He
lives in college,
funded by his despairing Kinfolk parents.
- Marcus Finlay
- Male, Homid, Galliard, Glass Walker, Rank 2
- Marcus works at the Clyde hotel as a bartender. He is also
trying to make it as a stand-up comic. Tall and fairly average looking,
with short brown hair and grey eyes, Marcus is in his early twenties. He
shares the rent on a house in Fitzroy with three other people.
- Christine Elliot
- Female, Homid, Theurge, Glass Walker, Rank 3
- A financial whiz, Christine owns a lot of real estate
around the university, and has a lot of resources for the use of her pack
and sept. An attractive red-head of around thirty, Christine has
enumerable contacts, and good relations with the Sept of Hidden Green. She
resides in Toorak.
- Jacynta Ryan, Hounds-the-Slow
- Female, Homid, Ahroun, Child of Gaia, Rank 1
- Amazingly perky, Jacynta seems filled with boundless energy. She is
18, and grew up around the Nimbin caern. She has expressed an interest in
learning almost anything she can get her hands on, in the few minutes that
she has free between sports games. Jacynta is studying at Melbourne Uni
- Keziah
- Female, Lupus, Ahroun, Blackfury, Rank 2
- Keziah grew up in the zoo, with the rest of the Sept's kinfolk,
but the spirits identified her as a Blackfury, not a Bonegnawer or
Stargazer. She is intrigued by the homids and often spends a week or
more living with a random group of Uni students, terrifying them into
feeding her.
- Aquinas Scales-In-Balance
- Male, Homid, Ragabash, Stargazer, Rank 2
- Aquinas is currently working on his doctorate
in Chemistry as well as teaching Kendo to students. Quick-witted and
optimistic, he dresses simply and shaves his head, although professes to no
religion. Funded with a scholarship, he lives in a student residence in
Swanston Street.
- Sings-For-The-Spirit
- Female, Lupus, Galliard, Stargazer, Rank 2
- Although lupus,
Sings-For-The-Spirit
is increasing
her knowledge of homids through observation and private study.
Sings-For-The-Spirit is a large grey wolf with one brown eye and one pale
blue eye. She lives with her Kinfolk in the wolf enclosure at the zoo.
- Moonflower
- Female, Homid, Ragabash, Glasswalker, Rank 2
- A somewhat reticient young woman,
Moonflower has a deft touch
with computers and electronics. She also has a lame left leg, which
causes her much trouble. Her family, which are part Garou, live in
Nimbin and are part of the Child of Gaia Sept there. Although originally
a member of Infinite Paths, she left and joined the Scryers in March
1998.
- Carmel Iremonger
- Female, Homid, Ahroun, Fianna, Rank 2
- Carmel is the owner and manager of one of the many
eateries along Lygon Street. "Carmel's" is a favourite hang-out for
members of the sept, Carmel is a large blonde woman who speaks with a
faint Irish accent. Her shop is a two-level building with a residence
above. Carmel lives here with her two children, and is pregnant with her
third child.
- Mathias Rourke
- Male, Homid, Galliard, Shadowlord, Rank 2
-
Mathias, once pack leader of Infinite Paths, now
searches for answers. An often dark young man, a successful lawyer
and corporate lawyer, though more recently focused on his garou nature
and encounters with the bunyip. He has family links to the
Sept of the Hidden Green and lives
in an upscale apartment block on Bourke St. Currently, Mathias is
residing in the rivers of silver in Erebus.
([Players don't follow] More... )
- Dominique Lalor
- Female, Homid, Theurge, Silverfang, Rank 2 (and falling)
- Dominique's life seems tinged with disgrace which only
just falls short from landing square on her shoulders. There
are quiet-spoken murmurs of her mother violating the litany,
and then being one of the two surviving members of the disbanded
Infinite Paths of the Sleeping Lore sept. Having abandoned
her degree at Melbourne Uni for the moment, she lives in a
dingy flat in Carlton. Dominique was crippled in a battle against
some Black Spiral Dancers and has lost the wolf - she is currently
staying at Rippling Waters until she recovers - or takes her
pregnancy to term.
([Players don't follow] More...)
- John Brighton
- Male, Homid, Theurge, Glasswalker, Rank 2
- John is young eternal student from Melbourne University. He is
fascinated by his newly discovered Garou nature and spends a lot of
time asking 'why?' of the other Sept theurges.
- Thomas
- Male, Homid, Ahroun, Silent Strider, Rank 2
- A somewhat brooding young man, the very buff Thomas has a somewhat
mixed reputation amongst the Garou of Australia. Thomas joined Sleeping
Lore in February, but previous to that he was wandering the wilds
of outback Australia.
- Brett Mitcham
- Male, Homid, Philodox, Child of Gaia, Rank 2
- Intense is a word that Brett's friends use to describe him. He is
new to the Garou, but not new to the ideals of Gaia and Earth-First.
Previous to his First Change he was a member of the ecoterrorist...er,
protest group, "Its big. Its yellow. And its Broken".
- Chasing-the-Night
- Male, Lupus, Galliard, Uktena, Rank 3
- Appointed by the Jindabyne Council as a spy, er, observer in matters
pertaining to the Bunyip, Chasing-the-Night (Kimu Tetsu) has his own reasons
for being with the pack. Ainu by birth, he has spent time in the Nippon
islands and in North America before coming to Australia.
([Players don't follow] More... )
- Ghost, Darren Michaels
- Male, Metis, Ragabash, Silver Fang, Rank 3
- Suggested by Darius Winchester as a pack member, Darren was originally
part of the pack to avoid the Council appointing someone, a plan that didn't
work out. Ghost is unable to change fully into Homid or Lupus, and inspires
some degree of Delerium in all his forms. Darren has left the pack to
return to the Silverfangs.
- Melissa Lindridge
- Female, Homid, Ahroun, Glass Walker, Rank 1
- A young girl of 17, Melissa is about 5'10'' and may still grow a little.
Blue eyes and face that reacts quickly to changes in emotions are
underneath once brown hair that now changes colour everyweek. Melissa is
an orphan after the events of New Years Eve but seems to have attached herself
to her pack.
- Deceased/Unknown
- Peter Brighton, Ends-the-Darkness
- Male, Homid
- John's brother was killed by Black Spiral Dancers, but first helped
the Sept find the Hive and destroy it. In light of his sacrifice, he was
buried at the Sept with full honours.
- Georgina Quittner
- Female, Homid, Ragabash, Glass Walker, Rank 2
- Georgina was set upon on NYE 99 and killed by fomori
assailants.
A computer science student and a theatre buff, Georgina
devotes all her non-Garou time to these two pursuits. Georgina is 20 years
old and of Eurasian descent. Currently she favours the Country Road look.
She lives in the colleges on a scholarship, and has no known relatives.
- Barry Heaton
- Male, Homid, Ahroun, Bone Gnawer, Rank 1
- Barry was killed while getting explosives away from a truck full of
Wyrm corrupted slime on NYE 99.
Barry is studying for his Bachelor of Veterinary Science,
although sept activities make this difficult. Although a sports
enthusiast, Barry is isolated from student life by the disquiet he invokes.
He lives with his family, who are as yet unaware of his "condition",
although they feel that he often acts strangely.
- Alexander Urosevic
- Male, Homid, Philodox, Bone Gnawer, Rank 1
- Although intelligent, Alexander never considered
further study and instead works at the zoo as a labourer. A thoughtful man
of 21 who remains fairly distant from humans, Alexander is slim and dark of
complexion. He used to live in a rented house in North Melbourne,
next to the Victoria Market - after the events during the attack on the
Dancer Hive in Sydney and Marion's death, he became despondant, and
eventually left the Sept early in 1999.
- Angus Delanie, Defiant-to-the-Last
- Male, Homid, Ahroun, Child of Gaia, Rank 1
- Angus seemed to be a rather distant
young man, until you get his attention. A
somewhat eager personality who always seemed to be trying to find the words to
explain his passion. He worked within the movie industry as a stuntman, finding
work when he can. He also lived an ecstatic live with his girlfriend in
Brunswick. Angus died fighting against gargoyles and mages, defending
his pack leader. ([Players don't follow] More...)
- Marshall Keeps, Salek Longshanks
- Male, Homid, Ahroun, Silent Strider, Rank 1
- Born in a small village in Jamaica, Marshall
was brought into the world a part of a poor family, in a
poor part of the world. His Garou nature elevated him some, but he remains
in contact with his old ways and home. A renowned painter, he has finished
a world tour and settled in Melbouen. He is a guest lecturer at Melbourne
Uni and had joined Infinite Paths. Marshall died in a battle with
a dreamtime spirit that Infinite Paths accidentally summoned and
angered.
- Marion Perry, Sings-of-the-Street
- Female, Homid, Ahroun, Bone Gnawer, Rank 2
- During her life Marion did volunteer work
and busked in the city centre with her saxophone. Marion worked out daily,
such that her 6' 3" frame, while still feminine, was rock hard. She
died during the attack on the Dancer Hive in Sydney.
- Mikal Ahrens, First-to-Fight
- Male, Homid, Philodox, Get of Fenris, Rank 2
-
Mikal
was charming, very charming. He was tallish, permanently
well dressed, almost always in a suit. He had dark hair and thin
face (german features). He was a law student. Unusually for a Get
of Fenris, he used to get on quite well with Blackfuries. He owned
a reasonably large house in Carlton, where he and occasionally other
sept members live. Mikal died in the hours leading up to the attack
on the Sydney Hive, during an abortive scouting expedition.
- Miranda Heath, Quests-for-the-Lost
- Female, Metis, Ragabash, Glasswalker, Rank 1
- Miranda grew up in Perth at the Singing Sands Glasswalker sept,
but moved to Melbourne to offer chiminage in return for a fetish which
allows her to speak, despite her metis impairement. In homid, she was a
5'6", blonde, grey-eyed woman of about 16. Currently on the bony side,
she speaks in quick sentences punctuated by longish pauses. She also died
in the abortive scouting expedition.
