Mathias and Dominique receive a visit from Alex Sees-for-Miles of the Ngalyod pack, who goes to great lengths to stress that he wasn't visiting in any official capacity, and that he certainly hadn't been asked by anyone to tell them what he was about to tell them. He then told them about the deliberations of the Council concerning the "incident" in Sydney. The Council was divided between those who felt that heads should roll and those who felt that the Infinite Paths should have a bit of leeway, being the first (semi)successful contact achieved with the Bunyip. Alex did not say who on the Council advocated each position. Eventually, the more lenient side scrapped through, but the issue is still open. Some time in the future, the Council may decide to punish Mathias and/or Dominique for what happened.
Soon after Mikal's funeral, an umbral statue appeared over his grave. It shows him snarling, stripped to the waist and leaping into battle with an axe. Miranda's grave is adorned by a statue in her Crinos form, with a far-away look in her eyes.
In October, Dominique made a visit to her mother's Sept.
Also in October, both Dominique and Mathias visit the Sept of Reconcilliation and throw their two cents in about the Killer of Children. They meet Ground-Runs-Red and Moon-Guided-Travels of the Uktena, who present a very convincing case for the Killer of Children to be moved to Uktena protectorate.
Other events occured to both Mathias and Dominique over the next 10 months.
Soon after Marion Perry's funeral, an umbral statue appeared over her grave. It depicts Marion as crouching down, holding a shield over a supine figure.
Alexander Urosevic grew more despondent and withdrawn as time passed, despite the efforts of his pack mates and the Sept elders. Eventually, he quit from his pack and the Sept and headed north. He spent some time with the Ear-To-The-Ground Sept, but his current whereabouts are unknown.
The Hand of Lore pack was rendered ineffective with only two members remaining, and the pack was dissolved. Early in the new year Christine, Georgina, Keziah and Jacynta "Hounds the Slow" Ryan (a Child of Gaia from the Nimbin protectorate) form a new pack called Daughters of Mnemosyne.
The Get of Pennington have also undergone some changes. Kirsty has been acting more and more without her pack, and did not resist Chris McNeil's leadership bid.
In January, a new Cub was found - Brett Mitcham. He spent some time with Reconciliation, but then opted to become part of the Sleeping Lore. Two more young Garou joined the Sept in the next few months - Thomas of the Silent Striders came from Queensland, spent some time talking to Cossack, Emma and Graeme and then joined the Sept at the next moot. At Easter, Georgina and Christine bring John Brighton through his First Change at the Sept of Scars Atoned.
Little has happened to the sept over the year. It is still the same old faces.
As with so many other former Bunyip Caerns, the site has yielded up little of it's secrets, and the Totem has remained silent on such matters. Teelia Farrow has, for the most part, left her pack and the sept, choosing instead the life on the road. She occasionally returns to the sept, where she is always welcome. It is known that she often associates with Silent Striders.
Sheaine "Walks between Paths" joined the Wild Rovers early in summer.
The single issue that has dominated the sept over the past year has been the growing rivalry between Ion Apostolova and Irena Sliviak for control over various criminal elements. After her sucess in bringing the Pantoliano case to court and damaging much of Ion's prestige, it is believed that Irena will soon challenge Ion for the position of Master of the Challenge. If successful, it will remove her from her pack but give her the time and resources that Ion currently enjoys. It has reached the point where Felix and Drago must sometimes intervene to prevent pointless blood shed and to keep the sept running smoothly.
It is still not known what happened to the members of Conviction Made Flesh who disappeared early in 1998 - no evidence other than the brief description from Infinite Paths was ever found.
Little has happened to the sept, apart from the annual death toll from which it suffers. Rakes-The-Earth died fighting the Wyrm. Hans Dieter was killed by Huros for some reason which no-one is very clear about.
Amelia Vedi eventually recovered from her catatonia after the attack of the Killer of Children. She has, however, changed somewhat from the tentative and uncertain young woman that she was - facing up to the horrors that the Killer of Children inspired has left her much more confidant and stronger.
Recognising the fact that the sept suffers constant loses, Commands-The-Waters goes to great lengths to ensure that new Garou are found and that others are encouraged to join. A cub who underwent the Change a few years ago has been through the Rite of Passage. Eric Koehler is now a member of Blood Claw.
The sept is constantly busy, but operates smoothly, without internal tension.
After months of fairly bitter arguments with the Uktena tribe, the Sept took the matter of the Killer of Children to the Jindabyne Council. The Council ruled in favour of the Uktena, and the Sept was told to assist them in transporting the slumbering spirit to a more appropriate location. This was obviously not the outcome that they were hoping for, and quiet grumbling has placed the blame on Innana - many of the Children of Gaia would like to see a replacement for Cernonous chosen quickly.
