"Maybe he wasn't looking?"

A two session D&D game, written by Cameron Blackwood and Damien Moore

No matter how subtle the wizard,
a knife between the shoulder blades
will seriously cramp his style

Councillor Jeordis. Able to rend portals to the elemental planes. Able to summon gales and storms on a clear day. He was once seen to turn a platoon of enemy soldiers into Mud Crawlers. How then could somone enter his tower, approach him in his laboratory and stab him?

Rumour has it that not one cantrip, conjuration or invocation did he raise in his defense, nor did any of the many magical traps he was renowned for creating snare the murderer - the Council was forced to deactivate them all to gain entry to his tower.

You stand outside the huge doors, waiting for the council to call you, as they surely will. Through the door you hear snippets of the shouted arguments...

    "... bloody alchemists...
NO! It was that contemptible Jargis.
Jargis was in Portwind, idiot! Rebels! Rebels, I tell you!
What's that religious order down by Well Road?
How the hell could they get in and kill someone as powerful as Jeordis?!?
    Religious! How about demons?
I heard he'd managed to annoy the Thief King....
    Maybe it isn't anyone internal?
    Foreign spies!
    Maybe he wasn't looking?
    Shut up, Merla."
