When the world was young, Wolf ran and danced though Gaia's forest. He was a playful creature and liked to explore places where he had never been. He would follow other creatures to see where they were going, stick his head in places that they would hide, and speak to the other creatures to find out about things he did not know. One day Wolf was pestering Owl to tell him more secrets, and more and more. Owl really just wanted to sleep, so he told Wolf about the very edge of the forest, where there were no trees in the sky, and great lights looked down on the world. Wolf could not imagine a place where there were no trees, so he ran off immediately, leaving Owl to sleep Wolf ran for hours and hours and days and days, stopping only to sleep. Eventually he came to the edge of the forest and looked up into the sky. It was just as owl said - no trees and a great glowing light. Wolf looked about in amazement and after a bit realised that the light was actually looking back at him. He greeted the light politely and asked her what she could see from way up in the sky. The light said that she could see all of Gaia, the forests and the deserts and the seas and the high and low places. Wolf asked if she would take him up into the sky to see all these places, and the light laughed. "What will you do for me if I take you into the sky, little wolf?" "I will sing for you", said Wolf and proceeded to do just that. He sang and he sang until his throat was raw. The light in the sky said that she had never heard such devotion and she would think about showing him how to get into the sky, but in the meantime he should drink from the pond nearby. Wolf trotted over to the pond and drank his fill, soothing his sore throat. He looked down into the water and saw the light floating there. Wolf reached out for the light and lost his balance, falling through the water. To his amazement, he wasn't in the pond, but in a strange place full of mists and lights. He looked up and saw the light above him, and she beckoned, showing him the path to chase along to find her. Wolf ran and ran and came to the light, and learnt many secrets from her, and from his journey. He eventually returned to the forest and spoke to other wolves and told them of his adventures and showed them some of his secrets. Other wolves have since sung to Luna (for that was the light) to carol her into teaching them secrets.
