EDIT THE MASTER COPY!!! ***Monday 1st April*** | Your day starts normally. A 3am wakeup, and a 4am pickup at the docks. | You drive your uncle's truck down to the docks and help the dockworkers load | the truck. You get in, and some skip guy is sitting there. | "Get out of my truck" | "*Drive to this address*" | You set out to drop the fruit off at your uncles, going via because that's a slightly quicker way. You decide to stop at the | corner, and you suddenly realise that the guy is there, and remember that | he was, back at the docks. | "Get out of my truck!" | "Arigreekname?" | "Yeah! Get out!" | "Go to sleep Ari." | Everything goes dark. ***Tuesday 2nd April*** | You wake up, the only light in the room is provided by an alarm | clock on the bedside table. You look at the time - 7pm. Shit, eh? Groping | around provides some light. You seem to be in a flat of some sort, and the | door is locked. *crunch* Was locked. | As you come out of the door, the same skip guy who was in the truck | is just in the corridor, about to open the door. "You could have just | knocked." | Follows a longish discussion re: vampires and money and family. | In the end it is resolved that: | a) You are a vampire | b) Iain wants to pay you to learn whatever you want. | c) You can go and see your family, etc. | d) Your uncles truck is fine, and you have left your family a note. | d) You need to go somewhere with Iain tonight. Altona | You and Iain barrell there in his ute. He pulls up in a warehouse | district, where there are lots of cars and a beat. You go inside with Iain, | he pays. | Once inside, Iain says to stay somewhere out of the way a bit while | he goes and talks to some people. You look around for somewhere to sit, and | spot two people you know. Marisa and Jasper. | Marisa and Jasper see you and Jasper waves, but Marisa tries to make | herself smaller. Ari emits surprise about Jasper and Marisa's presence, but Jasper and Marisa arent terribly forthcoming. You all chat (yell) a bit, but there are numerous uncomfortable silences. The DJ puts on "Bloodletting", but it only gets 3 bars in before he is punched out by someone and the music is changed. | You are sort of keeping tabs on Iain, and realise that he is chatting | to a particular group of people. He speaks to some guy in 19thC period goth dress, a punk with tall, multicoloured spiked hair, another older guy in what you would call a 'teacher' costume. All of these people look a little... pale. | Iain comes back over towards you all, with a slight frown on his face. | As the music lulls a little, he speaks with you Iain, a little sharply "Do you know these two?" Ari, confused "Yeah..." Iain, a little freaked "Do you know they are vampires too?" Ari answers intelligently - "Huh?" Mass confusion arises as people realise each other are evil bloodsucking creatures of the night(tm). Once it has been sorted out that Ari was made by Iain, Jasper by Kieran and Marisa by the Phantom, people consider the freaky nature of this occurence. What a coincidence. * Kieran comes barrelling up to Jasper, barely nods to the rest of * you. He grabs Jasper aside and seems to be brainwas^H^H^H^H^H talking to * him. * Iain says quietly (as he can) to Ari and Marisa that Jasper is * 'from Perth' now. Just accept it. Jasper returns to the pc-pile and looks confused. Its a sort of camoflague reaction. Kieran returns to talking avidly with people, esp the guy in the ruffle shirt. Iain suddenly looks inspired, herds you all together and towards Kieran and ruffle-shirt-man. As you approach, you are struck by the thought that he looks almost as if he is holding court at a festival. Iain interrupts Kieran and says "Howard, if Jasper is from Perth, then he is free to go where he will, correct? And seeing I'm already babysitting Ari here, why I don't I help him and Marisa adjust to Melbourne as well." Kieran tries to interrupt "I don't think that.." Iain keeps going "Well, being from Perth, Jasper can make his own decision, free of his Sire or anyone like that, _can't_ he, Howard?" Howard smiles slightly "That is correct, according to custom." "So what do you want to do, Marisa, Jasper?" | You can see this Kieran guys face. He looks like he's about to | explode. Jasper says "I think I'll go with you for a bit, if you don't mind." | Kieran's face goes to DefCon3. * Marisa pipes up after Jasper and says that she'll go with Jasper. Kieran all but has steam coming out of his ears, so Howard jestures to a couple of burly men, who drag him outside. Howard suggests to Iain that he take you all out the back way. Now. Iain concurs, and you are all taken around to a ute, Ari is made to climb in the back, while Jasper and Maresa are in the cabin with Iain. Everyone trundles back to Iain's house, in Camberwell. Once there Iain settles them into some rooms so that they are comfortable and explains some more about being a vampire. He also mentions there is a conclave on the next day. *Wednesday 3rd April* Jasper, Ari and Marisa wake up at Iain's at about 6:45. They get ready and head off to 15 Collins St, as this is apparently where the conclave is to be. Marisa is presented as a lost kindred. Alex tastes her blood and says that he can't tell what clan she is or who her Sire is (due to a Thaumaturgical ward)... although she is 8th Generation. She is told that she will be permitted to stay but she must drink Alex's blood 3 times. Marisa freaks a little, but does it. Aristotle is presented as being Iain's rightful childer, to be released whenever Iain thinks he is ready. Jasper is presented as being a Brujah 'from Perth'. Alex makes some enquiries as to whether he was involved in the fall of Lumley. Jasper says that he was just Embraced a short while ago, and left because the city was far too chaotic. He is told as long as he obeys the rules of the city, he is welcome to stay. People gently mix, socially. They are introduced to some more of the kindred around the city, including Anita and Lord Alfred. Anita seems fairly interested in Marisa. After a couple of hours, everyone trundles back to Mr Iain's house, where he continues their education in Kindred matters. Today's lesson: "What's a blood bond?" * Thursday 4th April * * Marisa comes and tells you and Iain that she woke up with the taste * of blood on her lips and a note next to her bed. Iain says that that could be dangerous - it means that Marisa has drunk twice from her Sire, if it is the same person. It will only take one more drink to blood bond her to her Sire. Everyone hunts around for a while. Supposition is made that the person responsible, if a vampire, would have to have slept nearby. All head for 15 Collins St again, where to find Alex. Jasper and Ari wait with the ute whilst Marisa and Iain go inside. * After maybe 20 minutes, Iain comes out of the office doors, carrying * Marisa. He tells you that _everything_is_ok_ and that you should take Marisa * to _this_address_. You will come back tomorrow night. * You drive the ute to the brighton address, and pull up outside a * huge mansion. Marisa comes to as you pull up. She looks dazed and confused. But then again, so do all of you. Inside, its a loverly house. Lots of security, some blacked out bedrooms, televisions. None of it looks particularily new, but neither does it look well used. | Bored, you explore around the house. You decide to use some of | your new eerie powers to get some sensations from the rock in the cellar. | You are completely overwhelmed by sensations of the last 150 years, and | involuntarily scream. The others rush to see what has happened, but you | manage to distract them a bit and they stop asking. After the exciting evening, everyone goes nighty night at about 5:45am. * Friday 5th April * * You are both awoken by Marisa yelling your names. Jasper and Ari barrell into Marisa's room to find her sitting on the bed, pointing at a pot. Jasper moves over and picks it up before anyone can say otherwise. People hunt around the house, and find how the pot-carrier got it. He has overridden the security on one of the doors, and forced it open. It is decided to take this all to Alex. Everyone jumps in the car and woosh, off they go. Once at 15 Collins St, they arrive to find Alex reading some papers on his desk. There is a goblet of blood sitting there. They show the pot to Alex. He says it was a Thaumaturgical thing - very simple to construct. It switches the blood on the inside of the pot with the blood of the person touching it. All eyes swing to Jasper. Jasper asks whether it is safe to break it. Alex nods, and Jasper breaks open the seal and drinks his blood back again. Alex indicates that Marisa is to drink for the 3rd time. Marisa prevaricates a bit, and Jasper makes a long speech about personal freedom. Ari and Jasper are asked to leave, Iain will meet them in the foyer. * You meet Iain down in the foyer on the ground floor. IT is * communicated to Iain about the breakin and the pot. He says he had no idea * where you were last night so Marisa's sire cannot be tracing his mind. * Jasper says that Marisa was unconscious most of the way there, but came to * once she got to the house, and her sire might have found them that way. Marisa comes down the lifts and says she drank the third drink. All seem a little bit non-plussed, but shrug and continue on. Ari and Marisa express an interest in going to an Easter service, while Jasper goes to work. * You go to St Pauls for the easter service. It feels strange * to cross into the church. Everything is making you feel a bit skittish, * from the devotional candles at the entrance to the tapers being passed * around. You last through the service without being smote by God, so * maybe you aren't the Damned after all. * You leave the church and Ari drives Marisa back to her house. * Marisa collects together her collection of antique knives and half-swords * so that she has something to do at Iain's. You drive back to Iain's. Saturday 6th April. You all wake to the sound of steel on steel. Ari and Jasper rush out the see what is going on, while Marisa follows at more timid speed. In Iain's lounge room is Iain, fighting with a tall guy. They are knife fighting, and both seem equally good at it. The parlour door is open, as if the unknown guy came in through it. He seems to be fighting a retreat. Iain lunges and stabs the guy, then spin-kicks the knife deep into his chest. Everyone gasps. The assailant stumbles back, and Iain moves forward to finish him. The unknown recovers suddenly, and grabs one of Marisa's knives that she left in the lounge and hurls it at Iain. Iain is knocked backwards and over by the force of the blow. The unknown escapes. Everyone clusters around Iain, who has a Malaysian kris embedded in his sturnum. He looks dead, right up to the point where he opens his eyes and says "ouch". Iain hauls the knife from his chest, and the wound heals over as you watch. After some investigation, no one can see where the unknown guy seems to have gone, Iain puts the neighbours off from calling the police and asks that Marisa put away her toys before she goes to bed. Iain gets you all to pack your stuff. Iain drives to 15 Collins St and goes inside, taking his boots, telling you to wait outside. He comes back out without his boots. You are going hunting (because he is hungry for some reason) and then to an unnamed destination. If Marisa's sire knows about this haven, and found you at Alex's, it would be nice to know if he could follow you further than that. Everyone zooms off to a club in Iain's car. Iain goes back for seconds and then thirds. (I think Jasper and Ari may have fed too.). After about 2 hours, everyone gets into Iain's car and zooms off. Southeast. Towards Cranbourne. Then a left. And a right onto a dirt road. Around a bit. To a small, (almost fortress like) flat-sized house on the dirt road. Inside you all go, and then sleeping arrangements are discovered. Everyone sleeps in one big pile. Exciting night, what? Sunday 7th April Everyone wakes up and looks at Marisa. Nope, no blood, nor no message. Woohoo. He can't follow you here. Right, says Iain, we have somewhere to hide. Don't tell anyone about this place. Zoom, back into Melbourne, calling in to Iain's house for some stuff. You drive out to Royal Park, near the zoo, where a bunch of people seem to be beating the crap out of each other. Anita is sitting on a log fence, as are a couple of the other people. Iain says that this is a Gangrel meeting before you get out, so don't offend anyone. You all get out and watch the action. Anita comes over and says hi, as 5 men pile onto Rachel. She throws 3 of them off before the remaining two knock her down. The three she threw off and Rachel move out of the scrum. Iain introduces you all again. He wants Rachel to taste Marisa's blood. He thinks that she might be able to help. Rachel bites Marisa and sucks, rolling the blood around in her mouth. Rachel's prognosis is that "We are cousins at best. You are not Gangrel." Rachel wanders back to a large group of Gangrel, and sits amongst them. Anita asks you to wait, and joins the group. You hear snatches of conversation. "He's done it again." "Insufferable arrogance" "..trying to control our movements...". They don't name names, but they don't sound happy either. The discussion breaks up and Anita comes over again and speaks you. She would like to take Marisa to visit someone who might be able to help with discovering who Marisa's sire is. The others can't come - its a clan thing, you wouldn't understand. Iain and Marisa agree, and Marisa gets into Anita's car while Iain watches the gangrel and thinks. * You both watch Marisa and Anita speak for a moment, then drive away. * Once they have gone, Iain tells you to get back in the car. He drives off a * short way and then parks in a side alley. You all get out and walk along a * back street for a bit. Iain stops at a drain, looks at it for a moment, then * bangs his boots on the metal drain cover, then keeps walking. He stops at a * grill, and opens it up. He jestures you inside and you both climb down the * ladder. At the bottom, its dank and humid. You walk along the sewer, half * crouched over, until you reach another ladder. You climb down that, and meet * Gareth, a Nosferatu. Iain speaks to Gareth (who apparently was a civil engineer * before his embrace. He doesn't act very civil.) and asks him to set someone to * watching Marisa's shop, to see if they can catch her Sire. Gareth tenatively * agrees, and there is a brief discussion of affairs. * You leave the same way that you came in. Once back near Iain's car, * it seems that someone has grown curious as to its contents. Ari rushes forward * to embrace such curiosity with Jasper, but nearly tears the door off with his * enthusiasm. The young man is drawn off into a darkened passage by Iain, who * takes a sanguinal approach to his curiousity. You head back to Iain's, in his * somewhat dinted car. Monday, 8th April. | Iain drags you out to the Melbourne State Library. He wants you | to go through paper clippings from last Sunday to Tuesday, looking for | something that might give a clue re Marisa's embrace. You spend several | hours there, but then become completely obsessed with this really yummy | librarian. It takes Iain ages to get you out of there, you just want a | taste mum! | You're feeling hungry, so you head to a pub. There, you get to | know a really nice girl, Maggie, who you pick up, snog with a bit, and | then take home. As you get her to her house, she seems to sober up a bit | and leaves really hurriedly. | You wait for a bit, then get out of the car. You go to leap the | fence, but slip on the wet brick and impale yourself. Everything goes red. | When you come to, your are a little shredded, and holding a bit of iron | spiked fence. You are in a park. You can see the trail of destruction | leading away. You drop the fence and jog for a phone, looking at the time. | 5am. You ring Iain. He says you are an idiot. The GM agrees. You head back | to your car. The police are there, along with Maggie. They question you | briefly, note the numberplate of your car and accept your pitiful alibi. | You hoon off as fast as possible to Iain's, and make it in. Just. Iain | biffs you on the head as you rush in. Tuesday 8th April. | You wake up tied to the bed. Iain is leaning on your chest. He | feeds you blood. You frenzy. You can't get away. He feed you a bit more. | You don't frenzy. The pair of you go jogging. | Once you have set the joggers up in a tableau, Iain takes you | to Collins St and buys a tailor made suit for you for tomorrow night. | (Conclave). Once that is over, you head back to Camberwell and he | demonstrates some new eerie brujah powers. Wednesday 10th April | You rush off to your soccer game and play, incidentally asking | someone about blood at an abbatoir. They give you a strange look and say | that its all bagged up with blood and bone and sold on the cheap. Ah. | You play soccer.... gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal. Oh. He's | broken two ribs and has bruising all the way up his front. And the ball | popped. The other side surrender. You drink a drink and then rush back | to Iain's. | He is waiting for you with suit, and tickets and bunny ears. He | explains its a good idea to keep the others on their toes. Everyone trundles off to the Concert Hall or Arts Centre, its really not important. Pedant. Humans and kindred are milling about the reception area and being friendly. Eventually everyone is asked to move up to the ballroom. Elevators take people upstairs. Much classical dancing is done. The waiters seem to know whom to being the haemoglobin enriched drinks to. There is a light undercurrent of tension, but generally everyone seems to relax. Kindred met during the evening: *Etienne. A tall thin man, elegant and graceful. Polite, gentlemanly and generally formal. *Sean. A tall young man, blond hair, wearing trenchcoat and looking a little uncomfortable. Friendly tho. *Sophia. A childer of Morgana's, a little asian girl, blond on the inside. Seemingly attached to Jasper. *Mark. A beatnik, with american accent. He apparently plays jazz, saxophone. He is bored. *Karen. A pale, blond floaty haired woman. Quiet. Seems to be friends with Mark. *Morgana. The toreador primogen. Dark haired, french woman. Elegant and polite, but perhaps a little shallow. She is seen to mingle with the right people. *Matthew. Mein elegant host. He moves around making sure that everyone has a good time, talking to them, being friendly. *Christopher. A large black man, apparently a Ventrue. Enjoying himself in a laid back and quiet way. *Mina. Another Ventrue. Appears to be a bit aloof, as if this is all a little below her. *Tom. Anofer souf londuner, he sits and talks with Jasper for a bit. It later turns out he is the nosferatu primogen. *Terry. A brujah of the old school. Foot long spiked hair. Events of the evening: * Etienne and Anita seem to vie for Marisa's attention. At one point Etienne introduces Marisa to Alex, in a bit of a faux pas. * Lord Alfred seems keen to intercede between the two of them, dancing with Marisa in a calm way. * Someone seems to try and come in through the elevator. Alex dispatches some security guards who deal with the man. * Mark and Karen ask about Jasper's music and express some interest in coming and seeing a gig. Jasper is playing at the Bot on Saturday, so he says to come along. Sunday 14th April. | After a not very useful evening, you frenzy, | kills ~12 people, goes into Torpor, assisted by Dominic Giovanni Monday April 15 Tuesday 16th April Wednesday 17th April Thursday 18th April Friday 19th April Saturday 20th April Sunday 21st April | You stir. You are somewhere dank. Salty. Dark. Cold. Clammy. | Atmospheric. There is a wrenching feeling and something is removed from | your chest. | Light appears and a guy dressed in a blue suit is standing with a | stake in his hand. You are a hole in your chest. You recognise the guy as | _the_ dockboss. He says (with an Italian accent) "Your Sire awaits you | above. Dress. Get out. | You dress and go upstairs where Iain awaits. Iain gives you some | money and says in a flat voice. "Go and meet your family, then meet me at | Tullamarine at 12am. Or else." | You go out, hitch a lift with a truckie who _happens_to_be_going | your_way. You walk the rest of the way home. You go in the backdoor. Your | mother comes into the kitchen and you can hear other voices. She starts to | get all emotional about you "Where have you been? We were so worried, etc" | She also says "Your boss is here, he came to tell us that he was trying to | help the police find your sisters." You enquire as to where they are "Theyw | went missing last sunday, one of their friends took them clubbing." | Alex comes around the corner. He is regarded as Ari's boss by your | parents. You and he make light conversation with your parents. | You corner Alex as he leaves and accuse him of hiding the girls. | Alex says he has no idea where they are. He leaves and enters a dark car. | It drives off. | You tell you parents that Alexander is your boss' boss, rather than | your immediate boss. You chat, make excuses and leave. | You taxi to the airport and meet Iain. He gives you a ticket for the | red-eye to Sydenee. Onto the plane. 2 hour trip. | Landing at Sydenee, you get half way through the airport before a | goateed yuppie with two airport security guards confronts Iain. | "Breaking an exile twice in one week is pushing your luck Iain." | says the yuppie a little condescendingly. | "Actually Aphrael called me back. One should always follow one's | sire's wishes, don't you think Michael?" | Yuppie spins on one heel and stomps away. "Follow" The security | guards fall in behind you and you are shuffled off to an office deep in | the airport. Behind the chair in the office, you recognise the man as being | kindred. He dismisses 'Michael' fairly abruptly. | "Iain. Why have you broken your exile?" | "I was never exiled. I was sent to Melbourne by my sire before any | judgement was ... enacted. She has called me back. I obey." | "I see. I will have to inform Alicia, of course." | Iain nods towards him. "Of course." | The vampire looks at you. "Who is this?" | Iain says "My childer. I bring him to Aphrael." | "Very well. Leave now." | You are escorted out by a much more meek 'Michael' now, and left | outside the airport. You catch a taxi for about 5 hours, being dragged all | over Sydney till nearly dawn. | Near dawn, you pull up to a large mansion with a high fence. A | valet comes out, takes bags, takes car. You are led inside. Its gorgeous. | You are led to a sumptuous room by a servant, who inquires if you will | need anything. You say no, and he leaves. Dawn... Monday 22nd April | You awaken slowly, remember where you are. You turn the light on, | there is a earthwear jug next to the light, containing warm blood. You | drink, its delicious. | Iain comes in, leads you out. There are people everywhere, from | little kids up to adults. You are greeted by a young looking man, Matthew. | He and Iain embrace, looking happy to see each other. Iain introduces | you to Matthew, who says "Welcome to our family. Aphrael is waiting to | see you both." | You are led through the house to a study-like room. There is a | very elegant woman reading. She stands and walks over, embraces Iain. | There is a brief family reunion. | Iain introduces you. "Ari, this is my sire, Aphrael. Aphrael, | this is my childer, Ari." There is much chit-chat. Iain and Matthew leave, | and you and Aphrael talk. She discusses your recent calamity of errors. | You try and justify yurself, but she waves that away. She is uninterested | in why it happened, but simply in why it must not happen again. | Basically you get the clan history from the Inquisition onwards. | The fact that the TB council were nearly completely destroyed, that the | true clan is hidden within the false one, but if it were to leak out that | they actually exist, it would be extraordinarily bad. | Aphrael then shows you the true treasure of the house. You pass | along a cavern cut into the ground, descending maybe 40 metres, getting | drier as you go. There is no light, except that which spills from below. | You walk out of the rampway and into a huge room. It seems to be a library, | filled with scrolls, books and even a couple of tablets. | However, your eye is drawn by the beautiful woman, sleeping in a | niche across from you. For a moment you think its a statue, but then her | eyes open, and she turns her head towards you. She is the most stunning | greek woman you have ever seen, preserved at a youthful 20 or so. She sits | up, out of the niche. Out of the corner of your eye, you see Iain, who had | been reading, stand up and bow. She beckons you closer. | You sit near her, slightly below. She explains to you what would | happen if her enemies discovered that she was here, how this house would | be split asunder, her children, mortal and immortal would be killed, how | ages of knowledge would be lost. How you may have endangered all of this | by frenzying and allowing Dominic to capture you. How the Giovanni clan | are known as despoilers already, the precious cappadocians fallen beneath | their fangs. | She reaches out and shows you Carthage, at its height. Thousands | of people, vampiric and human, living together. How the kindred began a | mass movement towards Golconda that has never been seen before. The heights | of a culture that rivalled Egypt or even her beloved Greece. The visions | go on and on, leaving you near weeping. All destroyed, as part of the | Jyhad. | She flows back to her niche and returns to her sleep. Iain discusses | your knowledge of Eletria and tells you that Aphrael is a master of the | subtle dominate, and you will remember the house, but not its secret | contents, unless you are within the walls of the house. He points at the | rampway you came down and says that it normally isn't there, but was created | as a courtesy for you, until you learn the clan disciplines to a greater | degree. | You spend the night reading of the kindred, and talking with Iain | and Aphrael. You sleep again in your bed. That night, you dream of the | destruction of Carthage, how a betrayl left their defenses open, how the | Roman troops, with the Ventrue and Malkavians at their head smashed their | beautiful Third city, toppled its art work, killed the kindred, murdered | the humanity and salted the earth so no thing would ever live their again. | The nightmare goes all night, leaving you covered with sweat and near | weeping again. Tuesday 23rd April. | You get yourself together for a return to Melbourne for your court. | Aphrael dominates you carefully to not remember Eletria and some of the | details of the house. | You go with Ian to the airport, along with a little girl, called | Alyssa. Alyssa knows that you must sleep during the day, and has some | concept that you are vampires. She calls you uncle Ari and Iain, uncle iain. | Once she falls asleep, you are told that Jasper killed her parents, and is | going to become her guardian. | Zoom, back to Melbourne, and then to Marisa's. At Marisa's, | everything seems as nuts as always. Jasper is reading NEw Idea in the kitchen | while Marisa seems to have opened her shop. Iain goes out the back and gives | Alyssa to Jasper while you chat with Marisa, who seems a bit skittish for | some reason. Could it be she knows you are a mass murderer? | Jasper comes out after Iain, who isn't interested. Iain gives you | some money and says he'll meet you in Brighton tonight. Not Camberwell. * You chat for a little bit, then Marisa closes up and goes into * the kitchen to see what's going on. Alyssa is spoiled rotten by Jasper. Marisa and Ari have their soon to be usual cold war argument. Ari stomps out and heads towards Brighton. Marisa talks to Anita about the Alyssa thing. Jasper rings Sam, and gets her to come and take care of Alyssa, who doesn't want to go. Thursday 25th April Anzac day. Everything should have been shut, but the GM forgot. | You come to, after a monumental battle with Iain and your inner | demons. The clock says 7:30pm. Iain gets up and gets into the shower. He | shows no sign of coming out anytime soon, so you get up and get dressed | and go out. Your hand is half-regenerated and you wrap it up too look | like a burn. | Ambrosia. Smoke, pulsing noise. You pull the whammy and the | girls come crawling. *burp*. One. *burp* Two. Thats enough. You wander | out, wondering where Rachel is. | You go back home, and talk to Iain about leaving. In dreams, you're mine Feel all right We're together in dreams In beautiful dreams. And just before the dawn I awake to find you've gone I can't help it I can't help it if I cry Cos I remember that you said Good bye | You can see the chessboard. | | It stretches off to infinity.... yet you can sense the players, | drawing their pieces together in symbolic battle. | | You off to the side of the board. | | White has woven a tight defense. Black probes gently against | the walls of this defense. Suddenly black launches an over the top | attack, their queen at the head. They pierce the defense of the pawns, | through the rook and are poised to take the bishop, and from there the | king. | | A piece is placed on the board. A grey king. With him. He blocks | the black queen, and a grey pawn takes the bishop, and becomes a queen. | The black queen and her accompanying pieces beat a hasty retreat from | the attack. The grey king and queen move to the centre of the board, | and are ringed by white and black pieces, each making moves against each | other, and trying to maneuver the grey king so that they can capture it. | | You feel yourself being lifted and being placed upon the board. | A white rook moves away from you, as if they brought you to the board. | The white rook moves in sync with other white rooks, differing sizes. You | are a white pawn, but with the ballistrades of a rook. | | A black pawn throws a silver rope, and lassos a white knight. The | rope catches up another white knight, and they ride furiously towards the | grey king. Pieces are scattered left and right, trying not to be taken. | The white knights ride past, and the grey king chases. You move to strike | against the grey king, but are caught by a black bishop, defending the | grey queen. | | There is a jump, and you are returned to the start of the game. | The black pawn throws the rope, and the grey king chases the knights. You | move to take the grey king, but are taken by a clear pawn. | | There is a jump, and you are returned to the start of the game. | You stumble into the centre of the board, and are nearly taken. You return | to the other rooks, but are taken. | | There is a jump, and you are returned to the start of the game. | You remain in the service of the white king, protecting them from the other | pieces. In the end, the grey king is defeated and you are left in a badly | organised defense. | | There is a jump. A black serpent bites you, and you die of poison. | | There is a jump. You are taken by a grey knight with a wand rather | than a sword. | | There is a jump. You move off the board, towards the sun. | | There is a jump. You die. Saturday 27th April | You sulk in the library.
