New Years Eve

I never used to like parties very much. Come to think of it, I never used to like people, and thats not a good start for a party. I've found though in the last few years that throwing parties is fun. This was the third New Years Eve bash that we've thrown.

Balloon Fight

Balloons were a good idea. Pink ribbed balloons maybe left a little to be desired.

NYE started fairly quietly, as it is want to do. We were unfortunately faced with a competing party amongst the dancing set, and it sucked away all of the FOME/dancing guests, such as Avril and Naomi, at about 11pm. Such is life - the rest of the party remained, and I had a lot of fun.

Entertainment included firetwirling, courtesy of Adam and Sue, and alcohol. When the two got mixed together, I was a little nervous, but everyone seemed cool. I was far too squiffed by then to take any photos, which is a shame. Watching the performance of Opus Dei late last year had impressed me with firetwirling, especially at night (I guess it wouldn't really work during the day :). Colin revealed his evil past of baton twirling and demonstrated a surprising ability to do the firetwirling thing. Tessa on the other hand, was extremely worry-inducing, as I was the one who had been feeding her vodka jelly, so I know how pissed she was. She seemd to avoid setting herself or the backyard on fire, so all's well.

Running Man I don't remember this photo being taken. This, I find somewhat worrying. I don't know why I am glowing either. The only time I remember being out the front was to see Andy off, and I wasn't that drunk then. It can't have been too late because my shirt is missing the blue curacao stain and the soot marks it had by about 3am. I blame Colin, but that may be completely wrong.

I include the following photo as a warning to all those who leave camera's in the hands of those who have had a few. I normally make some effort to not take photos of people's noses.

Cath
Although we actually missed midnight, I think I managed to stuff some champagne down some of the guests - who were far more intrigued by the firetwirling. Between 1am and 2am, thing started to wind down, and the less dedicated party goers headed off.

A solid core of partiers kept going till 4am, when some of the dance people came back. With the dim light of dawn starting to make itself known, everyone started nodding off at 5am (scuttle scuttle). I crawled into bed and laid down, intending to sleep till around 2pm. Then the dawn chorus started up. Then the garbo's came around....
